Weekly Wisdoms #16
I am not enjoying the chaos that is clearly 2025. My spider bite, it turned out, was not a spider bite but rather a tick bite which led to tick bite fever. I discovered this on Saturday morning in the ER. I have never had to go to the ER since being with David- that is almost 16 years. And even before that I don’t know when last I was in the ER. That tells you how sick I was feeling, Fortunately though once I had the right meds I started feeling a lot better.
David launched a new endeavor on Tuesday, so wasn’t an ideal time for me to be woman down (again) and I had a joint therapy session with Emma AND a follow up with the Dr. So no real time to lounge around resting and healing you know. BUT I do feel remarkable better now.
Glimmers
(Glimmers are micro-moments of joy that make us feel happy, hopeful, and safe.)
- Emma and I had a joint therapy session. She has a wonderful therapist who is supportive of our schooling journey and is helping us find ways to manage our journey.
- I managed a walk on Wednesday. It was a short one and I wasn’t going to do it but I am glad I did it.
- I received the new Cricut Joy Xtra and I am SO excited to start making even more goodies.
- David’s new wealth club launched on Tuesday and it went so well. I am so proud of him – this has been months in the making.
- My check in with my Dr went well. All the blood tests she ran came back normal which was a relief but also a bit frustrating because it doesn’t explain my weight. But we have a plan to tackle that.
- Jack and I had a great coffee date at Culture Coffee this week.
My Weekly Wisdom..
In about May last year I went to the physio for a neck issue. As is usual when you go to a Dr at my age, a thread was unraveled. One of the things she reminded me about was the importance of being active. We settled on walking (again) and said that trail walking is actually good for me because of my hip issues. So we started walking and it was hard but I was slowly getting into it. Then Cameron died and life came to a complete stop. For a while.
I was determined at the start of the year to get back into it. I started with one walk, then another and another. Just over 3 months into the year and these walks have become an important part of my life. When I have skip a walk (like because of tick bite fever) I really miss it. One of the reserves we walk in is particularly healing for me. The walk runs along a river a large part of it is covered and it is beautiful and my soul feels at peace when I am there.
I am now determined to get into a rhythm of 3 walks/hikes a week and by winter I want to be able to do at least one 10km a week.
I didn’t expect to feel like this about walking and during most walks I still regret everything but then we get to the end and its amazing.
Cool Things I Learnt
Not to be dramatic but I was out here fighting for survival this week! I think the biggest lesson learnt was to make sure you get the right treatment. And rest!

Wise Words of the Week
“The grandest but most difficult goal to achieve in life is to still the mind. All magnificence and power comes from that.”
Words of the Week
I am joining up with the Word of the Week link party this week so my word for the week would have to be BUSY. It was a busy week.
