Weekly Wisdoms #21
I hate saying “I am so busy” but at the moment life is busy. David is organising an air show on the Easter Weekend, so there is lots to do. On top of that there is our normal work that needs to get done plus all the kids stuff. The juggling is real right now. Keeping up with my walks helps me to keep the calm, especially in my own head.
Glimmers
(Glimmers are micro-moments of joy that make us feel happy, hopeful, and safe.)
- David and I went away for the weekend. We had an event in Hartbeespoort on Friday night and decided to make a weekend of it. I am so glad we did, it was just what we needed. It was rainy most of the weekend which was perfect.
- The event we hosted was the first one for David’s new networking group and it was a huge success.
- Emma’s meds have kicked in and honestly it has made such a massive difference. She has done school willingly, she even wrote a lot which has been one of our sticky points.
- We booked air tickets to Cape Town in June for David’s uncles 60th. It starts a 3 week stay in the Mother City for us and we can’t wait.
- I did a tough but good walk. It was a different trail in the same spot I walk weekly, was a little further than I normally go. I am glad I did it, it was tough but I enjoyed it.
- I had my monthly therapy session, it was tough. I am very sad at the moment but I am very grateful for my therapist and the space to work through things.
- We made these bookmarks for Emma’s little book club who had their first get together this week.
My Weekly Wisdom..
A change is as good as a holiday, right?
Maybe! But we are changing things up at home. My birthday gift this year is an office makeover. Emma and I share a space, it is big enough for the both of us but has become a little chaotic over the past 2 years and was in desperate need of a new coat of paint. While repainting is easy enough there is some damp that needs to be fixed. Benji offered to help us with it so last week we bought the paint and will be painting this weekend.
I have an idea for the decor and can’t wait to get it painted and everything back in it’s place. It does also mean another round of decluttering. I love how light everything feels after decluttering but it is always such a mission because its not as simple as throwing stuff out. Some things can be donated, some things just need to be put back in the right place etc.
Hopefully it will feel like a holiday once it is all done.

Wise Words of the Week
“Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself.” – Hermann Hesse
Words of the Week
I am joining up with the Word of the Week link party this week so my word for the week would have to be SADNESS. It has been a good week but there has been a lot of deep sadness this week. Everything seems to have this cloud hanging over it. I accept it is part of the grief process but it is exhausting to go through.
Until next week!

Those bookmarks are so lovely! It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend away.
Sending love and hugs across the ocean for the heaviness and sadness you feel. It does get more manageable. I’m happy you are able to get a break here and there. Good luck with the office makeover. Hope we get to see it.
I am glad you have the walks to keep you calm when things are so busy!
The weekend away sounds lovely, especially when you needed it.
That is great that Emma’s meds are helping and the office makeover sounds fantastic. Good luck with the painting.
Sending love and hugs, I am so sorry about the sadness.
I thought you were going for “busy” this week! Your weekend away and trail walking sounds like it did you a world of good. I’m glad that Emma is feeling the benefits of her new meds. Your office makeover sounds exciting and I love the new bookmarks. What a lovely idea for the book club. I’m sorry you are experiencing sadness, but glad you have the support around you to help. Hope you have a good week. Hope the air show goes well next weekend. #wotw
I’m sorry that you chose sadness but I do understand. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how busy or productive we are the sadness can still overwhelm us. I hope looking forward to your trip helps.
I’m sorry to hear that sadness has been a cloud over things this week, but totally understandable.
I really like your wise words for the week, they’re very true.
It’s great to hear that Emma’s meds are helping. I hope she enjoyed book club and that the other readers enjoyed those beautiful bookmarks.
Good luck with the decluttering, I’m doing a little bit everyday. Came across some of Stephanie’s paintings from her primary school the other day, so feeling some of the sadness also. Thanks for linking with #pocolo and also popping over from #project365 and #wotw
Glad you had a nice weekend away, that the event went well and that Emma’s meds are working well for her. Good luck with the office makeover. Sorry to hear that you’ve had that cloud of deep sadness hanging over you. It is part of the grief process but that doesn’t make it easier to live through. Hope that this week has been gentler. #WotW
