Weekly Wisdoms #3

I can’t believe this is my THIRD Weekly Wisdom! Time flies, even if you are grieving.

(Glimmers are micro-moments of joy that make us feel happy, hopeful, and safe.)

  • We had rain last night, gorgeous hard rain and there is more predicted.
  • We are all officially in therapy – it took us a while to get this sorted so I am thankful it is now done.
  • Even though I moaned about the heat, we had some really beautiful, clear days.
  • I managed to do 3 20 minute kettle bell workouts this week and I didn’t hate them. They are tough workouts and get my heart rate up quickly but I definitely feel better mentally during the day afterwards.
  • Kiara handed in her final project today. It has been a tough few weeks for her but she managed to get it done and I am very proud of her.

So America, right!?!

Gosh! I kinda knew it would end up the way it did but I was really hoping, for everyone’s sake, it wouldn’t but here we are. When things like this happen, I am very grateful I live where I do.

Jack asked me the other day why I care so much about America which led to a discussion about how countries like the US have an impact on the rest of the world. This is obviously true but there is more to it, for me anyway.

I have watched Trump speak – well, lets me completely accurate – I have watched Trump speak on TV/social media etc – I have tried and tried to understand what he is saying. I have actively searched for more videos to try to make sense of the things he says. So much of what he has said seems incoherent, pointless and often utter rubbish. I have watched videos where people who has claimed to have spoken to saying they have never met him. I have found it so completely bizarre that he just continues to ramble with no consequence or thought.

What is more bizarre is that more than half of the millions of people who voted, agree with him and support him. HOW?

Maybe he has some good policies (I would love to see those videos/read them) but how is possibly that people completely overlooked the fact that he is a racist, misogynist, homophobe, felon and down right vile human being. He has always been these things – there is decades worth of documented incidences of him being racist, assaulting women, committing crimes. Is that what people in America want – the right to assault women, be racist and commit crimes with no consequence? It certainly feels like it.

I also get that maybe a lot of what he was ranting about was to get the votes of a certain demographic. Maybe saying he would support calls to overturn gay marriage was just election speak but what if it isn’t? What if he does it? He has nothing to lose, so why not.

The direct impact to me and my family on him winning the election is minimal but the world is not as isolated as it once was – the decisions countries make, especially large, powerful countries, do have an effect on us all.

That little tirade ended up longer than I had planned but there it is!

Another interesting TikTok on how/why siblings can be so different even when raised in the same house with the same parents.

Typo got in a whole lot of Hello Kitty themed goodies, there are some very cute goodies – I added this Hello Kitty mug to my Christmas list – go check it out if you are a bit of Hello Kitty fan.

I forgot to save the video but this guy was explaining how he and his guy friends have a tradition called Waffle Wednesday. Every Wednesday they send each other a short 60-second video about what’s going on in their lives. They have apparently been doing it for years. Isn’t that so cool? They have this little check in each week where they can see each other and get an update on what’s happening. It’s also a cool idea for family, if you are spread out and don’t see each other often.

I love Pinterest! I started a new account for Wisdoms and Winkles and have been creating boards of things I love! One of those things is pretty pictures like this one!

What is draining you simply because you thought you weren’t allowed to get rid of it?

This comes from a book I have just finished called “Tired as F8ck” by Caroline Dooner. Makes you think doesn’t it!
