Weekly Wisdoms #6

Our holiday comes to an end soon and it is the first holiday in a while that I haven’t felt ready to go home. It has been a calm, healing break where I was able to really relax and recharge. I read 3 and a half books, napped, explored Cape Town, watched movies and spent time with family.

(Glimmers are micro-moments of joy that make us feel happy, hopeful, and safe.)

  • David’s aunt took us out for smoothies and coffee.
  • We had a wonderful Christmas day with family. We spent the day opening gifts, eating, swimming, eating more and playing games. It was a perfectly balanced day.
  • Jack spent time with David’s uncle in the kitchen cooking and baking which led us to a pretty definitive plan for his schooling for the next few years.
  • The 26th was spent doing absolutely nothing. It was perfect.
  • We went to breakfast and the kids did some shopping at Access Park (I am most definitely not a in real life shopper but the kids loved it).
  • We went for a walk on the Sea Point promenade and had some delicious ice cream.

“When we remember a special Christmas, it is not the presents that made it special, but the laughter, the feeling of love, and the togetherness of friends and family that made that Christmas special.” —Catherine Pulsifer

I don’t have weekly wisdoms this week. I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas with those who mean the most to you.

And if, like us, you are missing someone around the table, I hope you are kind to yourself and allow yourself to feel all the feelings.

This will resume next week!

““Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.” — Hal Borland.
