I have never actually done big renovations before. We have redecorated and took out one kitchen cupboard but nothing as intense as this renovation – walls are being knocked down, doors are being built up – its a lot.
This week was all about the renovations.
Picking out tiles, cabinets, shower, taps etc – which was super stressful because they never had the one we all liked so I had to pivot and ended up going with something completely different. But I think its all going to come together well.
I think I went to one of our 3 local building stores at least once a day getting things the builders needed.
Our builder has done a lot of work for both my us and my in-laws. He is sort of a jack of all trades and calls in guys as and when he needs him. He is good but his communication skills leave A LOT to be desired which has been rather frustrating because I am never quite sure what the day holds.
Jane, our helper, has been trying, unsuccessfully to keep the dust at bay. It doesn’t help that the concrete is so strong that they have spent 4 days trying to get to one pipe – so you can imagine the dust.
We are all using one bathroom now, which is fine but Emma is a night owl so she will start her bath at 20h30 or even later in our en-suite. I am very much the opposite of a night owl.
And this is only ONE of four rooms we are doing. Granted it is the one that needed the most work.
I know we are going to love it once it is done and it is so exciting watching the bathroom come back to life but it is still stressful.
I hope you have an CALM week!

I am joining up with the Word of the Week link party Check it out and join the part too!

Oh gosh! It does look like a lot of work has been going on. I think it would stress me out so much! I can just imagine how much dust there is! Eek!
Having grown up with a step-father that is a jack of all trades kind of guy I could probably count on one hand the years we DIDN’T have some sort of construction job going on. That dust gets everywhere. And yet it’s so neat to see how you can move this wall there, add a door or a window and suddenly it looks like a whole new house.
oooh I hate the process of a renovation but the improvements are so worth it. I remember having our bathroom done which took just 3 days but felt like a lifetime. Good luck, I hope your calm comes along sooner rather than later.
I can imagine how stressful it must be having big renovations done. I hope that it’s all going as well as possible and everything comes together well. #WotW
