Blog Link Party – Reflections & Revelations

I have decided to change things up a little bit for my Link Party and add a monthly set of prompts to help everyone get the creative juices flowing.

The prompts do say autumn because most of my readers and writers are in the Norther Hemisphere but I am going to change it to Spring because we are in Spring here in sunny South Africa.

What’s your favorite Spring tradition?
Not sure I have spring traditions but generally we get outside more and I do have a burst of inspiration and motivation to get my veggie garden started again.

How do you embrace change in your life?
Reluctantly! Historically I am not great with change but the one thing that is constant in our lives is change, whether we want it or not. So now I have accepted it as a part of life.

Share your go-to comfort food recipe?

I have two comfort meals – moussaka and butter chicken. I make a cheat moussaka and basically make it like a lasagne but with brinjal – I kinda just wing it, so I don’t have a recipe.

What are you harvesting (literally or figuratively) this season?
My husband is in his empire building era and I work with him, so we are harvesting an empire. I do have some veggies in my garden – lettuce, peppers, and some herbs that are also growing really well. I am adding in items as my confidence grows.

Do you have any cozy evening routines?
Not sure if they are exactly cozy but generally we all watch a show together before bed and then I either scroll TikTok or read. It is not very revolutionary but it is our favourite time of the day where we can all just be together.

When do you start thinking about holiday preparations?
This year we planned our December holiday in February so we have a place to stay, we just need to start with the food planning and buying soon. I have started Christmas shopping which is rare for me but I found some lovely goodies at a local market for a friend and Kiara.

How do you make your home feel warm and welcoming?
I am not sure that it is. We have a reactive, anxious dog who has a very vicious sounding bark and he is the first thing that greets people. He is a big softy once you are inside though. I have started adding candles and incense because I love them and they are such small things but make such a big difference.

What are you most grateful for right now?
The change of season. I love how everything is coming to life, it is getting warmer and the thunderstorms are almost here.

Do you decorate for spring? If so when?
We don’t. I don’t think seasonal decorating is a thing here. Very few people I know do it.

What does this season mean to you?
New life! Awakening.

I would love for you to join in. You can use the prompts as is or change them to suite your life.

  1. These are such fun prompts. Though we don’t have many traditions left now that the boys are all grown. I did decorate the house for fall last week and we’ll keep that up until after Thanksgiving in November then switch it out with Christmas decor.

  2. Hey Laura, Thanks bunches for sharing Blog Link Party – Reflections & Revelations with Sweet Tea & Friends this month dear friend. I’m so happy you’re here. Happy spring to you and your family.
