Weekly Wisdoms #10

This week has been CHAOTIC. Every day has been more unhinged than the day before. It was a combination of Jack starting school, our new routine, work being busy and stupid things things going wrong (no water, roaches, tummy bugs and broken boreholes).

I hate weeks like this. I do everything I can to avoid chaos in this level but sometimes you just have to lean in to the chaos.

(Glimmers are micro-moments of joy that make us feel happy, hopeful, and safe.)

  • Jack and I started our weekly Culture dates again. I didnt realise how much I missed them until we were there.
  • I went for a walk with David and my father in law and the dogs on Wednesday.
  • After a long time, our pool is fixed and it is Emma’s new home. Being in the water is her happy place.
  • Emma and I have started a one-on-one date every Thursday. Each week one of us decides what we do, she decided this week and we went for ice-cream at Aroma and a walk around the Village in Hazelwood.
  • Jack made tacos, they were delicious. He made his own taco seasoning that is so good!

Usually at some point during the week I have an idea of what I want to say in this section but the chaos of this week has left me blank!

So these are a few random wisdoms every women should know.

  • It’s ok if you don’t have a big group of besties who do everything together.
  • Having a dog makes everything better.
  • Wear what makes you feel good.
  • Get therapy but find a therapist who you connect with.
  • Oat milk is not as great as TV makes it out to be.
  • You are not too old for stickers.
  • Full your space with things you love.
  • A good relationship takes continual work, when you find the right one it is amazing.
  • There is a difference between instant coffee and good coffee beans. Always choose the coffee beans.
  • Getting outside, feeling the earth on your feet, being surrounded by the trees will always make you feel better.
  • Turn off all notifications on your phone. It might feel scary at first but it is liberating.

Full disclosure, I am spending less and less time on the internet at the moment. I scroll and engage a bit on Threads, read the headlines and that’s about it.

With the US inauguration on Monday I have actively avoided the internet. So I am changing the name of this section to Cool Things I Learnt (or found out).

  • Did you know that Menopause is covered as a PMB, so even if you only have a hospital plan treatment will still be covered!
  • Borax helps to get rid of cockroaches.
  • Parenthood on Netflix is full of drama and chaos but I binged watched it all and loved it. I

 It takes courage to say yes to rest and play in a culture where exhaustion is seen as a status symbol. Brene Brown
