2025 in Review

What was your biggest accomplishment or proudest moment of 2025? There were a few but I think consistently sticking to my hiking/walking and starting netball are probably the biggest two.
What was the most challenging part of the year and how did you grow from it? Dealing with all the firsts that come with grief – Cameron’s birthday, the first anniversary – those small moments that where overwhelmed with grief. I also think being happy was hard sometimes. This awful thing happened to us and I feel it every single day but I also feel happiness and joy and positivity – its hard sometimes to marry the two.

Share your favorite memory from 2025? There were a lot, its hard to pick one. Hiking near Franschoek, horse riding for the first time, walking 10km, taking the dogs with us on holiday.
What’s something new you discovered about yourself this year? I can do hard things – like playing netball for the first time in 30 years, doing hard hikes, getting on a horse, telling people my son died.
Who made the biggest impact on your life in 2025? I know I am starting to sound like a broken record but I do think my walking – it helped me with both my mental and physical health and really gave me a lot of confidence in what my body can do.
What are you most grateful for from this past year? David. Always.
What did you let go of or leave behind in 2025? I am not sure if I have let it go completely but I am getting there – the idea that I am not worthy (of anything). I am starting to find my worth again and actually believe it.
What surprised you most about the year? How much good happened. The reason it surprised me was because we started the year still so deep in our grief and I suppose there is a feeling that after such a devastating tragedy, you shouldn’t feel joy so quickly.

If you could describe 2025 in three words, what would they be? Loss. Positivity. Growth.
What are you most looking forward to in 2026? Growing even more what David and I started building in his business. We had such a good year and I can’t wait to build on it even more in the new year.
