Weekly Wisdoms #38
We had all been dreading this week. On Tuesday it was the first anniversary of Cameron’s passing. We had no idea what to expect or how we would feel. Of course we knew we would be emotional but his birthday was very emotional for me, so we were sort of preparing for the worst. But it ended up being a “good week”. There was a lot of sadness, but there was also a lot of acceptance, happiness and celebration of who Cameron was to us.
Glimmers
(Glimmers are micro-moments of joy that make us feel happy, hopeful, and safe.)
- I took the whole week off. I put an out of office on my emails and actively avoided anything work related. I made no plans for the week, other than the kids stuff and just went where the mood took me.
- There was lots of scrapbooking, hours and hours figuring stuff out on my Cricut and making new stock for Emma’s little business. I got to the things I just haven’t had enough time blocks to get to.
- My support system rallied. People sent messages and voice notes, they were there for all of us and just made us feel so loved, seen and supported.
- David also took the Tuesday off and we just did very mundane things – Emma had school, we took Jack rock climbing, did some shopping, talked a lot about Cameron, messaged most of the day with Kiara, sharing stories, videos etc. We also cried when we needed to and just went with our emotions. It was a sad day but also a good day. Kiara and I have decided we are going to do something on his birthday every year to celebrate who he was to us.
- Eve and I went for coffee and had a great chat.
- I got back on the yoga mat which I have been wanting to do for ages.
- I had a good walk with my walking group. They let me cry and share our loss.
Picture of the Week
I have decided to change this section up and add in my favourite photo of the week. This photo of Cameron and I was taken about 15/16 years ago. I was a single mom and had taken them away for the weekend to the same place I was going to on my weekend away with walking group. Look how young we both were!!

Wise Words of the Week

Words of the Week
I am joining up with the Word of the Week link party this week so my word for the week would have to be LOVE. I chose love as the word of the week because while we were sad, we also felt the love of our friends and family who were with us on the day. We felt the love we have for Cameron and the love we have for each other.
Until next week!
