Getting Creative in My Free Time

It is time to Share Our Lives with My Slices of Life. This month we are talking about creative outlets and free time.

It has taken me a long time to prioritize free time and focus on my creative outlets but now they are a big part of my life and a powerful tool that helps my mental health.

Scrapbooking is probably my favourite thing to do. I stopped doing it for a while but I am now on a mission to get all the photos I printed out scrapbooked. Having my Cricut is so helpful to get titles or frames etc cut out. I am having lots of fun creating pages.

Making things, largely for Emma, with my Cricut is also a great creative outlet for me. It can be frustrating sometimes as I am still learning how to do all the things the Cricut can, but it is rewarding when I get it right.

Hiking also takes up a lot of my free time at the moment. It is hard and some days it takes a lot to get me motivated and out the house but I am enjoying it. I have joined a little group of ladies who walk somewhere new each week and I am enjoying exploring new trails.

I want to say I also read in my free time but I just don’t get to that as much as I want to. I do, however, spend time watching TV. Not movies, but there are a few series I really enjoy. Currently I am enjoying Bosch and have just finished Veronica Mars.

What do you do in your free time?

  1. I really can’t believe I didn’t think to add hiking to my list; we hike nearly every day (that it’s not rainy or snowing). I absolutely relate to the frustrations/rewards of making things with the Cricut.

  2. I love the idea of scrapbooking. I keep a diary but it is not the same as including photographs. IT is the pictures that really tell the story, not the words.

My creative hobbies are painting, mosaicing and upcycling/repurposing.

  3. I love seeing peoples scrap book pages. It’s such a lovely way to remember those special times.
Hiking is such a fab way to get out and exercise. It sounds like you have fantastic fun hiking.

  4. I kind of want a Cricut because I so much neat stuff that people have made with it. But I feel like I’d be falling down a big rabbit hole!!!
