The last time we walked the Hazeldean Valley trail was earlier this year at the end of our rainy season. It was literally 5km of mud, puddles, slipping and by the end of it we were all covered in mud. But it was still an adventure.
The walk itself is really easy – it is flat and winds through the farm so you pass cows and chickens and sheds while trying to dodge cow patties.
This time, it was drier but we did have some rain on Saturday evening and it started drizzling a little in the morning. So it was a little slippery at some points but overall it was really nice. The trail was also marked better this time and they had clearly done some work on the trail.
This is a great walk if you are just starting out or just want a nice easy trail – you can walk longer but its a relatively flat area so I don’t think the longer routes are much harder in terms of elevation.

Aw, yes, we have a “mud” season here too where hiking can be a bit tricky. For us, it is usually in early spring when all the snow is melting.
