Weekly Wisdoms #11
The theme of the week was SICK SICK and MORE SICK! Emma woke up on Saturday morning with a raging temperature and things just spiraled from there. Ear infection, congestion, fevers, coughing – poor kid had it ALL! A trip to the ER and an injection helped her to turn the corner though. She still has a persistent cough but is on the road to recovery. The lack of sleep over those first 4 nights was rough. I question how we survived those newborn days. I woke up on Wednesday morning with a sore throat and blocked nose and generally feeling blergh.
Glimmers
(Glimmers are micro-moments of joy that make us feel happy, hopeful, and safe.)
- I spent Saturday with my Cricut getting new stock made for Emma’s market tonight and tomorrow and using up all the little pieces of vinyl I had to make the kids some labels for their books.
- Jack and I had a positive week with school. Its a bigger adjustment than even I was prepared for but we are finding our groove.
- David’s stepdad booked our end of year holiday in the Eastern Cape. I can not wait. I absolutely love it there and every year we wait too late to book but this year we got it done. AND Eve is also holidaying nearby which is exciting.
- I cleaned out a drawer and found a bunch of the photo booth photos that were taken at our wedding – check it out below – so cool.
- Eve and I went for a hike at Wolwespruit again. There is always a point in the walk where I regret EVERYTHING but then we push through and it’s great.
- Emma and went to Rietvlei for our solo date this week and it was such a lovely afternoon.
My Weekly Wisdom..
My wisdom for this week is profound. Being sick SUCKS! Whether it is dealing with a sick kid or getting sick yourself – it sucks. It is frustrating and feels like a big waste of time!
Emma was sick this week, shes ok now. Then I got sick, I am almost ok. It sucked.
Being sick sucks. That’s it. That’s the wisdom.
Cool Things I Learnt
Walking fit is not the same as elevation fit. Walking up is a lot harder than walking flat.
Sometimes a shot from an ER doctor is just what is needed to turn things around.
TriBeca in Centurion has a bargain bin of sorts where you can buy their coffee.
