Book Review: Woman of a Certain Rage
I have been speaking about this book for months! I told people who didn’t even ask. That’s how good it was.
I listened to the audio book of Woman of a Certain Rage which I think makes it so much more fantastic.
This is a story about a menopausal 50 something woman with 3 kids, a artist husband and a judgmental family – which all sounds very cliched for a story but it is told in the most relatable way.
There are parts where it feels like she could be describing my life – the hot flashes, the judgement from family, the disdain from teens, the complex changing relationship with her husband, the feeling like what you are doing is just never enough. It is told with such hilarity that I literally laughed out loud while listening.
For the entire duration of this book it felt like I was walking alongside Georgie. I could feel her sadness, her frustration, her rejection, her rage as if it was my own – because all of us woman of a certain rage HAVE felt it! What makes it more relatable for me is that she is not a skinny, pretty character but rather someone awkward in her own body, a little overweight, clumsy and with hair that just never really does what you want it to and not in cute messy bun kinda way but rather a flat, lifeless kinda way.

It is the coming of age story of a middle age woman who is trying to navigate a new season of life that no one prepared her for.
I only read some of the Goodreads reviews after I read this book and it didn’t get a great rating but I absolutely loved it. If you are deep in this stage of life, I would still recommend it.
I’m always on the lookout for new reads and recommendations. So this comes in handy. I’m going to have to check this out. It sounds great.
Thank you so much for sharing with Sweet Tea & Friends this month dear friend. I’m so happy you’re here. 🤗
