I am cheating a little bit this week – this post was written today (Tuesday morning). We went away for the long weekend and while I took my laptop with, with the intention to write, there was no Wi-Fi and honestly I just didn’t want to – so I didn’t
I often tell my children that life with their dad is a constant adventure where you are never really sure what’s going to happen. When they were younger and I had 4 of them at home, it wasn’t so charming but I have learnt to embrace it and appreciate what our adventures add to life.

I like a plan especially when we travel – not an itinerary but rather I like to know where we are going, what we need to take with, who will be there, etc etc. I have neurodivergent kiddos and a husband with ADHD and possible a slight case of AuHD myself – so control and plans are essential for me.
The plan was to spend the easter weekend at a farm that belongs to one of my husbands relatives – they don’t actually live there at the moment so the initial understanding was that it was just us. David and the kids have been to the farm – 10 years ago – and as we discovered when we got there – a lot has changed in that time. Because no one lives there permanently the farm house is in need of some love.
Upon our arrival we discovered it was not going to be just us but rather 2 other couples and the young man who the house belongs to.
We took our dogs with. Traveling with the dogs is new for us and always a little stressful, Kobe is a little reactive to bigger dogs and doesn’t really love new people. There was a little miscommunication about the dogs and while it all ended up ok, there was a few uncomfortable moments. The dogs loved it though – they had some much space to explore and we managed 2 successful outings with them.
We went for a sunset walk around the farm and I am convinced the men didn’t know where we were at one point but they did well to fake it and we made it back before it got too dark.

One of our outings was to the Marico Oog which is the start of the Marico river. The road to the Oog runs through rural farm land and there were some really rough parts – we considered turning back a few times but my father in law was committed to the adventure and it was worth it.

Emma did not come with us – she went on her own adventure with her friend. They left on Friday for a 6 day get away to a local nature reserve where she is having the time of her life. She has seen elephants, met the Easter bunny and host of other exciting adventures.
Sometimes the best adventures are the unplanned ones.
I hope you have an ADVENTUROUS week!

I am joining up with the Word of the Week link party Check it out and join the part too!
