Weekly Wisdoms #52

And just like that all the gifts have been opened, the feasts have been eating and the celebrations have been had. There was a lot of mixed emotion this week. We have had such a great holiday but the sadness lingers, always.

(Glimmers are micro-moments of joy that make us feel happy, hopeful, and safe.)

  • Our beach walks are still going strong and we are all loving them.
  • We found such a lovely restaurant in Port Alfred called Guidos. We had a delicious meal including a milkshake the size of Emma’s head.
  • The weather has sort of set the tone for what we do – there have been hot, clear days perfect for the beach but they are followed by windy days which means we have to explore the area. And the few rainy days have been the perfect excuse to do nothing.
  • We did a house clean before heading out for breakfast on the 24th. We each took an area and it took about an hour and it was done!
  • Our Christmas was so chilled. There were no big pots here so I had to kinda cook in stages but it worked out so well – I popped the tongue in the slow cooker while we went out for breakfast, then managed to squeeze the gammon in an oven casserole dish to boil. And then all the veggies were roasted in the air fryer. It actually made meal prep so easy.
  • We werent sure about what to do for pudding, so made the classic peppermint tart and I found a gluten free brownie mix in the local Spar so we made that, topped it with whipped cream and crushed up peppermint – it was SOOOOOO DELICIOUS!
  • David always buys me gifts but he doesnt always get them 100% right so this year I made a takealot wishlist for him. (I have done this before but he tends to go off book). This year he added everything to his cart and checked out. My Lego Stitch was without question the best gift I have received in a while.
  • Our Christmas Day looked very different – we opened gifts, went for a long walk, watched some of the Taylor Swift documentary, went back to the beach and then a chilled dinner at home. There really is such joy in simplicity.

I have decided to change this section up and add in my favourite photo of the week. Even gray beach days are beautiful.

This is the first page of the journal I received. Isn’t it just lovely.

I am joining up with the Word of the Week link party this week so my word for the week would have to be CHRISTMAS.

Word of the Week linky

Until next week!
