I love it when we walk a trail I haven’t done before. I take for granted just how many amazing places are in my little city. This week we walked at Ubali Pomegranate Farm near Cullinan.
The drive out was an adventure of its own, mainly because I wasn’t really sure where I was heading and found myself driving through one of our local townships. Then I ended up on a road that had so many potholes there was often no way around them – potholes are pretty common around here but this was next level and very stressful.
But I eventually arrived to Ubali and it is like a little oasis of beauty.

We walked the 5km trail but they do have a 7.5km and a 15km. The trail snakes its way around the farm and is pretty flat, there is a technical option that does go up a little koppie for about 200m, but we opted out of that this time.
It is a very pretty walk with zebras, impala and even an emu. They have knocked little quote boards onto some of the trees which make the walk a little extra fun.

The lady who was leading the walk set a very impressive pace, so even though it was fairly flat and not particularly challenging, it was a fast walk so ended up a really good workout.
There is a little coffee shop on sight but it is pretty basic and help yourself which makes it kinda like having coffee and your gran’s house. There is a big cast iron kettle with coffee in, you pour it and pay. They have a small menu that I assume changes and again, you help yourself to whatever is on the counter.
The gardens are stunning and we sat under the trees and chatted – we could have stayed all day.
Definitely one of the more enjoyable walks we have done.
I added this post to Holly and Sarah’s Monday link up party.

What a beautiful place to walk! Our roads take a beating in winter and we get both pot holes and something called frost heaves where water makes it way into the cracks in the road, freeze, and cause raised areas often right around the pot holes making them seem even deeper. It sure can make for some interesting driving!
such a beautiful place! I wish to try the pomegranate stright from the branch 🙂
