Share 4 Somethings January

I started doing this last year but then got distracted. Trying to get back in it this year to help me get back into writing regularly.

The idea is to share something we loved, something that sustained us, something we’re carrying forward from this month to the next, and something we’re making space for each month.

Something I loved in January….Has to be our long 12km walk at Hedianga. It was such a tough walk, not just because it was the furthest I have walked but the trail is technical and hard. I also loved doing it with David and it was just the perfect way for us both to start the year.

I also really loved writing in my journal every day. I received it as a Christmas gift and it has been so lovely writing with pen and paper again. Some of the prompts are simple but there have been a few that I have to come back to when I am ready.

Something that sustained me… I feel like I am a broken record about my walking at the moment but it is honestly keeping me sane! That and I think my weekly coffee dates with Eve. I have needed to vent…a lot this month and she listened, agreed, offered advice and just gave me the safe space to blow off steam.

Something I am carrying forward...There are two things I want to carry forward – my walking schedule, I am in a nice rhythm now and it feels like the only thing that is flowing well in my life so I want to focus on that consistency. And keeping my boundaries tight when it comes to taking things on that aren’t actually my responsibility. I did it a few times during January and nothing bad happened (LOL) so I want to keep making sure I protect my space and avoid taking on things that I don’t need to.

Something I am making space for….I would really like some flow to enter the year. The year has started off little chaotic and negative and I am pretty much over it. So I am making space for a little more routine and flow to our daily lives. An new adventures. My walking group has some fun activities planned for February that I would love to join.

  1. That is wonderful that you have a good walking routine down and can see the benefits in it! I really miss my outdoor time during our winter months. I try to get out when I can but it definitely takes triple the effort to get myself out the door.

  2. Great post. I want to get back to walking on a more regular basis. I experienced foot and lower back pain last summer – things I never had to deal with. I finally decided to do something about it – initially I thought this would go away and not return. I saw a foot nurse and I am going to physio once a week – I am noticing positive changes and I feel better and more confident when I start my day.

  3. So great that you have a regular walking routine and that it has so many benefits in your life! I love walking but it’s been much too cold and the snow too deep for us to get outside for that during the past couple weeks. Enjoyed reading your SFS answers – hope you’re having a great weekend!
