Weekly Wisdoms #1
One of the things I miss about blogging is the sharing of the mundane. When I started blogging (years and years ago) we used to share posts about our life. There was a stage I was posting every day – I was not sharing profound thoughts or deep posts, just what I did that day. The blogs I was reading were sharing the same but somewhere along the line we stopped doing that and I miss it.
So I am bringing sexy back baby!
Glimmers
(Glimmers are micro-moments of joy that make us feel happy, hopeful, and safe.)
- We had the first proper storms of the season, it was glorious. We had some amazing rain that we so desperately needed and everything is starting to come to life.
- I met with my neighbour for a catch up coffee. She has started an intense new office job which means we don’t see each other as often.
- Emma has another market on this weekend so I spent time creating designs for her iced coffee cups and played around with a few other things on my Cricut. I am loving it, the more I do, the more confident I become. The possibilities really are endless.
- My daily yoga which Coco loves as much as I do. I am slowly getting back into the more challenging flows.
- Morning coffee and quiet. I have two cups of coffee a day so I make sure they count. Cameron and David bought me an espresso maker for my birthday and I love it. I love that I can make a cappuccino or a latte or iced coffee without having to leave the house.
My Weekly Wisdom
Developing an attitude of gratitude. I stumbled across this article recently about journaling. It is a very interesting article with some great suggestions. One of the things I started implementing a few weeks ago was the Evening Shutdown.
I set up a little survey on JotForm with the 6 simple prompts he mentions.
- Rate the day on a scale of 1 – 10
- What are 3 wins for the day
- What are 3 potential wins for tomorrow
- Choose one area of life that could have been better
- Today’s movie (I added this one since I am in my movie watching era)
- Upload a photo from today
It takes me 5 minutes every evening to quickly complete each question but it has become such a powerful tool to keep me focused on the positive. I go to bed thinking about the wins for the day and looking forward to 3 things the next day. When I wake up, those things are front and centre in my mind.
I am also constantly on the look out for things to take photos of during the day. Some days I have to scramble in the afternoon for something but other days I have a few photos to chose from.
It sounds like such a simple thing to do, and it is has made a considerable difference in my daily life.
Give it a try and let me know if you found it helpful.
Wise Words of the Week
“It’s not about being perfect. It’s not about where you get yourself in the end. There’s power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, in using your authentic voice.” ―Michelle Obama, “Becoming”
