Word of the Week

Initially I wanted to pick FRUSTRATION as my Word of the Week but I can’t pick that each week so after coffee with Eve on Friday, I decided on VENT!

Then I googled the definition of vent.

“The release or expression of a strong emotion, energy, etc.” – that’s exactly what happened this week! I released and expressed so much strong (really strong) emotion.

There was a little hiccup with Jacks rock climbing coach. I was trying not to get annoyed by the lack of accountability, had a chat with the head coaches wife – expressed my (strong) emotions and at the very least she made me feel heard. (I will say that dealing with Gen Z’s is not for the faint hearted).

I am still trying to get our complex financials sorted – I think we are on month 6 now! The new financial year ends end Feb and we are no closer to finalising last years stuff. Eventually I escalated the matter.

My solo walks have become little vent sessions. Yup, I often will vent out loud but it really helps me to get the thoughts out of my head and make sense of things.

I had a good cry, rather unexpectedly and ended up venting about an issue that happened when Cameron died. I thought I had moved past it, but something happened this week that triggered it again and clearly I still need to do a little work on it. But having a good cry is always such a great release of energy.

Eve and I had a 3-hour coffee and it was basically a big fat vent session about everything – our kids, the cost of living, the wait at our coffee shop, our partners (not so much this week actually), our jobs, the state of the world. I felt 10kg lighter when I left!

I hope you had a FANTASTIC week!

I am joining up with the Word of the Week link party Check it out and join the part too!

  1. Sometimes you just have to vent and sometimes you get to vent at the person who deserves it. I like a good vent and yes I do it out loud too! Always makes me feel better.

  2. Sorry about the hiccup with Jacks rock climbing coach. I am glad you felt heard and I hope you get your financial things sorted. Venting and getting everything out always makes me feel better about things.

  3. A good vent every now and again is necessary, in my opinion. Sometimes you need to release everything into the open in order to either find a solution to a problem or be able to move on.
I hope you are feeling a bit better after your vent and that February is a good month for you.

  4. I am very familiar with venting, although a lot of mine is done in the bathroom with the shower running so as not to upset my already stressed out family on the edge. I hope this week is much better for you x

  5. Hope that things get less frustrating for you soon. It’s good to vent. Glad you have been able to do so this week. Unexpected triggers can be hard – having a good cry is important at times like that. Glad you felt better for your time with Eve having a big venting session. Hope that this week will be a better one though. #WotW

  6. I have a good vent when I’m out walking. I envy you that you have a person to vent to that you see regular. My friends are randoms, as in I see different people for different things in different places, so I can go months before I see the same person again. I vent through my blog or out loud when I’m walking. Hope you’ve managed to get a few things sorted. #wotw
