I have driven under the bridge that takes you to Die Boseld a million times and had no idea that it was even there. This is one of the best parts of my little walking group, discovering new places that I would never have on my own.
I last walked this trail just over a year ago. It was the first trail I walked with my walking group, I was excited to do it again and see how I felt afterwards.
The Trails
There are 3 walking trails – two 5kms and a 10km. There is an easy (flat) 5km and a more technical (elevated) 5km and then the 10km combines the two. The technical 5km has an estimated time of 2 hours and based on the terrain of the koppie, it does look like its a tough one but I would like to go back and do it with David.
While the easy route may lack in elevation, it does not lack in beauty. It snakes through the farm and for the most part under a blanket of trees, creating a magical (and cool) feel. You follow the river at some parts, walk past the dam and a field of horses and even get to watch monkeys play in the many many trees.

The trail is well marked – the little footprints are for the walking trails and the arrows are for the mountain bike trail but the walking and riding trails start and different spots so it is very hard to get them muddled up.
There is also a little coffee shop on site that has good coffee (and milk alternatives) and some basic food – wraps, pizza, sandwiches etc.
I couldn’t see anything on the website that said dogs weren’t allowed but we didn’t see any dogs, which implies that you can’t take them with.
Entry is R70 for the hiking trails.
If you are a seasoned walker then the easy 5km isn’t going to be much of a challenge but a nice one to do if you aren’t in the mood for a challenge or take the kids with you.
